REVIEW
Since it was under construction, The Grand Rex didn’t quite look like the photo above when I visited in 2022 - but I had a great time anyway. I saw Top Gun: Maverick in this movie house and it was a very comfortable experience. The cinemas are much bigger than the ones I’m used to in Canada. It’s a bit niche to see a movie while on vacation since it’s such a time suck - but if you have some extra time, it’s a good idea to do things you like doing at home while on vacation, too.
Do I recommend the Grand Rex?
But only because you don’t need to see a movie while you’re on vacation - but if you’re interested, go here.
HOT TIP
Purchase your tickets online beforehand - especially if you have some anxiety around ordering en Français. When buying tickets for English movies, look for '“VO” (“Version originale” or “original audio version”) or “VOSTFR” (“Version originale sous-titrée en Français” or “original audio version with French subtitles”) showtimes - this way you will get the original English audio for the film. If you choose a movie that isn’t in English (they show other European films as well), just remember they will show it in its original language with French subtitles only - coming from an English-speaking country, this didn’t always come naturally for me (as simple as it sounds).
